When it comes to the journey of life, we all have our own story to tell. Each of us is unique and different in the path we took, but we’ve all arrived at the same place – the foot of the Cross. It’s at this point we make a decision, to continue traveling through life making our own pathway, or to put our trust in Him who died so that we may have life, and life in its fullest.

This is Pete’s story.

My testimony should start with a bit of history about me.

Now in my late sixties I have led a very full life. I spent twenty years in the Royal Navy and have been around the world twice at the taxpayers expense, and I am now attempting a third circumnavigation at a somewhat slower pace, as this time I am having to foot the bill.  I have seen and experienced lots of different cultures, beliefs, and ways of life, from the most opulent to the most squalid you can think of.

I have never considered myself a religious person, even now I do not class myself as “religious”. Other than weddings, funerals and christenings, I would not have thought of going to a church.
That is until around twenty years ago when my wife and her daughter started going to a local church on a Sunday morning. I had the job of taxi driver, taking and collecting them, and I was quite happy with that.

We moved to a different area as I had a new job, and that also meant a new church for the girls too, as I continued to ferry them to and fro on a Sunday morning. Gradually I began to notice a change in my wife’s outlook and general attitude towards most things. When I challenged her, the answer I received was, “It’s God”. At the same time one of the ladies who worked for me was always talking about God and how she was so happy to know Him. Now I am starting to think just what is it that is making these people feel so good?

What is it that makes these people feel so good?

When we talked about it, all I could think about was, “where did the money come from to make it all work?” I was impressed with the reaction it was having on my wife and becoming intrigued about how it all worked, so I decided to take the bull by the horns and invited the local pastor to come and explain it to me. I was pleasantly surprised when the time came and this guy was so nice and understanding and very informative, but in no way pushy or forceful, just a genuinely nice, ordinary guy. When he left I think I was already convinced that there was a better way to live my life, so I started staying on a Sunday morning and was amazed at how friendly and ordinary the congregation were, every one of them was happy and willing to chat with everybody. It was not long before I realised Jesus is the only way to go for a happy and fulfilling life.  We were both Baptised and Born Again and have never looked back.

The Lord provides all we need and much much more!

My job came to an end, and with that also the home we were in! Not a problem. My wife prayed and asked the Lord for a nice house with a view and He provided a two bedroom house looking out over the river, thank you Lord, I was offered a new job with one of the guys from the church, again thank you Lord. I have since started my own business and to this day I have not looked back. I never worry about money, in fact I never worry about anything now. We do not go without, and I believe the Lord provides all we need and much much more!
